About
Quinta do Hilário is a heritage-listed building located between the foothills of Serra da Arrábida and the agricultural fields north of Setúbal, next to Várzea Urban Park.
Rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, the building follows the palatial typology of the Baroque period, with painted ceilings and stucco work, carved stone details, and expressive decorative “C” and “S” motifs.
The project is shaped by the surrounding landscape and by the waterlines flowing from Serra de Palmela, strengthening the relationship between the historic building, the agricultural setting, and the views towards the castle and the woodland to the south.
